Summer in Minnesota

Happy Travel Tuesday everyone! Today I'm sharing my photo diary from my recent trip to my home state of Minnesota. Summer is such a special time in the Midwest, everyone is trying to squeeze in all of the BBQ's, beach time, boating, summer festivals and enjoying all of the summer nights as they can before the cold of winter comes. I love this time of year, and since my husband (STT) has only been to Minnesota during the winter, I wanted to show him everything that Minnesota had to offer in the summer!

STT and I watch a lot of Food Network, and we especially like the show "Diners, Drive In's and Dives." During one of the shows, they featured Matt's Bar a dive bar in south Minneapolis who is home to the Jucy Lucy! I hadn't been to Matt's in a long time, so it was great to go back. We devoured our Jucy Lucy's, fries and Blue Moon's. So good!

One of my favorite areas in Minneapolis is NE Minneapolis along St. Anthony Main. It is a cute little area that has a lot of wonderful restaurants and bars along the Mississippi across from downtown Minneapolis.  Near by is trail that goes to the famous Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony Falls.  I brought STT to my favorite restaurants, Pracna on Main, where we had the 1890 and enjoyed a local craft brew.

I have always wanted to go to the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and visit the outdoor sculpture garden. It is so hard to believe that I had never been there! STT and I made a trip there and we had a good time looking at all of the sculptures. Our favorite was the iconic "Cherry in the Spoon"-a must see for anyone visiting (or living) in Minnesota!

And no visit to Minnesota in late August is complete without a trip to the Minnesota State Fair. It is one of the largest state fairs in the country and most food is served on a stick! As a kid (and a young adult!), I looked forward going to the state fair every year. We went with my brother, sister in law and nephew and spent most of the day eating, drinking, walking, visiting the animals, people watching, and going on rides. It was such a great day, but boy were we tired afterwards!

It was such a fun filled 4 days in Minnesota with family and friends and what a great way to end the summer!

What are your favorite memories from this summer?
