Since moving back to Minneapolis/St. Paul, I have really began to appreciate all of what the two cities have to offer, including their magical skylines. Minneapolis is a beautiful city and a great place to take pictures. Are you looking for a fantastic spot to photograph the Minneapolis skyline? Here are 5 of my favorites.
1. St. Anthony Main
St. Anthony Main is located in Northeast Minneapolis, across the Mississippi River from Downtown Minneapolis. This area has great views of downtown Minneapolis, the Stone Arch Bridge and the 3rd Avenue Bridge. The sunsets over the Mississippi River from this location are a must see!
2. Lake Calhoun
Minneapolis, better known as the City of Lakes, is very photogenic from one of its lakes, Lake Calhoun. There are so many great vantage points to capture a photograph of the downtown skyline, but my favorite is location is just before Thomas Beach on the west side of the lake.
3. Boom Island Park
Boom Island Park is located on the Mississippi River right above Nicollet Island and Main Street. There are great vantage points to photograph the downtown skyline, but my favorite is located in the far parking lot where all of downtown is visible and a great panoramic photo opportunity!
4. Stone Arch Bridge
One of the most popular places to capture a photograph of the downtown skyline is from the Stone Arch Bridge. The Stone Arch Bridge spans across the Mississippi River from downtown Minneapolis to Northeast Minneapolis and is located just down the street from St .Anthony Main. Minneapolis never looked so beautiful from this spot, especially at sunset!
5. Northeast Minneapolis
Northeast Minneapolis is a great place to take in and capture the downtown Minneapolis skyline. My favorite place to take pictures is located just above Northeast Park, near Hillside Cemetary. The sunsets from this area are spectacular!
